Vans and Dakota Roche present ‘Seeking Liberty’
Whether it’s the adrenaline rush of visiting a city for the first time or returning to a special place for all the things that come to mind, traveling triggers a series of incredible emotional responses. They may even be even more intense after the times that we are having to live. For Dakota Roche LA city is Philadelphia, and after the confinement that we have all lived, what she feels for her is even greater. Each step is like a breath of fresh air: the same streets, different sensations.
Hand in hand with Vans, Dakota returned to the city after an eight-year break, to spend time rediscovering its ins and outs and those spots that have a special place in her heart. In her latest BMX video for Vans directed by Calvin Kosovich, Seeking Liberty, Dakota defends that of revisiting a place you already know and seeing it with different eyes. “I had the opportunity to see the city from a new perspective, and it was even more incredible, as if I had never ridden there, as if it were the first time.”
In addition to filming his latest clip, Dakota recently collaborated with Vans on the Slip-On Pro BMX, the first Slip-On to feature BMX-specific WaffleCup technology.
Born and raised in Southern California, Dakota developed a deep appreciation and fascination for the courage, character, and architecture that the East Coast offers, and the unique spots it offers BMX riders. Although Philadelphia remains one of his favorite places, his last trip has been like a blank canvas, reinforced by the freedom to roam the city freely after feeling locked in for months. The result is a love letter to the city, but also to that feeling of having no barriers or physical limits, beyond one’s own horizon.
